The project at 70 Wentworth Park Road, Glebe, is situated on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the Traditional Custodians of this Country. The dwelling forms part of the Lyndhurst Heritage Conservation Area and is identified as a contributory Federation-era terrace constructed c.1902 with Victorian-era detailing. The scope of works prepared by Mia Mia comprises alterations and additions including the removal of the existing rear wing and pergola, the construction of a new rear wing accommodating kitchen, dining and living spaces, internal reconfiguration of the principal building form, and the introduction of a new attic roof extension. The design approach responds to the site’s heritage context by maintaining the terrace’s legibility within the streetscape, while introducing contemporary interventions that enhance spatial functionality, natural light and amenity. The works have been carefully considered to balance conservation principles with modern requirements, ensuring the retention of heritage significance while providing a dwelling suited to contemporary occupation.
